what is occupational therapy?

At Kidsource Therapy our licensed occupational therapists focus on treatment to help children achieve independence in all areas of their lives. Many are surprised to hear that children participate in occupational therapy because we usually associate the term “occupation” with jobs adults perform. However, there is a broader view of the term “occupation” which includes children’s activities such as play, learning, and socializing with friends. At Kidsource Therapy we help children improve their physical, motor, & academic skills and enhance their self-esteem and sense of accomplishment.

Our therapists provide a comprehensive evaluation to access current skill levels. In addition, practitioners address psychological, social, and environmental factors that can affect function in different ways. Following the evaluation, an individualized treatment plan is developed which will incorporate all areas your child may benefit from assistance in.

Our therapists then tailor their therapy around the unique needs of each individual child. We provide therapy through meaningful activities in order to keep the child invested and motivated to participate.
